Technical Translation Training. the Methodological Implications of New Technologies in the Approach of Scientific Terminology

0. Summary The rapid evolution of computer systems is driving dramatic changes in the ways people perceive, interpret and communicate information. A communicative act per se, translation, could all but remain unaffected in this new information environment. However, in an academic setting, it still remains a challenge for the tutor of specialised translation, to prevent the students’ misinterpretation of these new technologies, particularly as regards their usefulness in supporting the process of translation. This can only be achieved through systematic approaches that integrate the evaluative access to electronically-distributed information in our traditional translator training pedagogies. The paper aims to present the methods and aims of this approach, together with some preliminary conclusions.
